이 과정은 모든 법률과정의 기초가 되는 수업이다. 특히 지적재산권법은 다양한 법과 관련이 있는데, 예컨대 저작권이 침해되었을 때는 권리자가 민사적인 절차 혹은 형사적인 절차를 거쳐 구제를 받을 수 있다. 이 수업을 통하여 학생들은 지적재산권문제가 다른 많은 기초법들과 유기적인 관계를 갖는지를 배우도록 한다.

Intellectual Property law involves various laws. For example, when copyright is infringed, the copyright holder may get relief through civil proceedings or criminal proceedings. Also, this course will help students how to correlate a Intellectual Property issue with many other basic laws.
