공연예술의 무형 자료들은 어떻게 수집되고 관리되는가? 이를 위해서는 공연예술 아카이빙의 특징을 이해하고 국내외 다양한 아카이브의 사례들을 접할 필요가 있다. 「공연예술 아카이빙」은 공연예술 자료를 수집하고 체계적으로 관리하는 아카이브의 기능, 더 나아가 아날로그 콘텐츠를 디지털화하여 DB화하는 작업, 그리고 창작의 원천자료로 활용될 수 있도록 연구, 개발하는 아카이빙 전문성에 대하여 학습하는 교과목이다. 공연예술 아날로그 자료의 디지털 변환과 압축저장 과정, 체계적인 분류와 메타데이터로 DB화하는 아카이빙의 전 과정을 이론적으로 학습한다. 또한 공연예술의 기록이라는 속성상, 복잡한 저작권이 얽혀 있는 쟁점을 고려하고 아카이브의 존재론적인 가치와 정체성, 발전적인 기능을 모색하는 등 공연예술 아카이빙의 포괄적인 전문성을 다루게 된다.

How are the intangible materials of performing arts collected and managed? To do this, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of performing arts archiving and to encounter examples of various archives at home and abroad. "Performance Art Archiving" is a subject that learns about the function of archive to collect and systematically manage performing arts data, the work to digitize analog content and to DB it, and the expertise of archiving to research and develop it so that it can be used as a source of creative work. The digital transformation and compression storage process of performing arts analog data, and the entire process of archiving DBing with systematic classification and metadata are studied theoretically. It will also deal with the comprehensive expertise of performing arts archiving, taking into account the issues of complicated copyrights and exploring the existential value, identity and developmental functions of archives, due to its nature as a record of performing arts.
