사람들의 사회적 관계는 여러 가지 활동을 통해 공간에 표출되고 이를 통해 형성된 공간 구조는 역으로 사회적 관계에 영향을 미친다. 본 강좌는 최근 화두가 되고 있는 복리 증진을 위해 학생들의 사회와 공간의 관계와 상호작용에 대한 이해를 돕고자 한다. 사회지리학적 연구 주제는 인간 활동, 사회집단, 사회복리 관련 이슈별로 정리하여 다룬다. 인간 활동별 주제로 노동, 여가, 공동체, 주거, 급양, 교육, 교통 등 존재기본활동을 다룬다. 또한 특정 집단에 주목한 주제로 인종ㆍ민족, 젠더, 연령ㆍ세대, 장애우 등 소수 소외 집단들의 공간적 활동과 제약에 대해 논의한다. 끝으로 사회적 이슈별 주제인 범죄와 빈곤에 대해 지리적 접근을 통해 해결방안을 모색한다.

Social relations and activities among people are represented over the space and spatial structures influence social relations in reverse. This course helps students to understand the interaction between society and space that changes the identity and power relation of individuals and social groups. The discussion proceeds by social activity and social relation. Social activities include labor, leisure, community, residing, feeding/clothing, education, and travelling. And social relation include race/ethnicity, age/generation, gender/sexuality, disability. Also, social issues such as crime and poverty are discussed.
