공직윤리는 공직을 수행하면서 공무원이 갖춰야 할 윤리적 신념과 행동 등을 설명하는 학문이다. 특히, 최근에 들어오면서 정부의 운영과 공무원의 의식 및 신념 등에 대한 윤리성이 강조됨에 따라서 공직윤리에 대한 관심이 증가하고 있다. 또한, 공직윤리는 공공부문과 민간부문의 목표, 신념, 그리고 행태 등을 구분 짓는 주요한 요인이기 때문에 행정학 분야의 학자와 실무자가 관심을 기울이는 분야이다.

Public ethics provides public servants’ ethical beliefs and behaviors in the processes of public services. In particular, as the government emphasizes public minds and values in the administration processes, scholars and practitioners in public management are recently interested in public ethics and values. In addition, public ethics provides the standards, including goals, beliefs, and behaviors, to differentiate the both public and private sectors. This class will discuss the ethics in public management for the purpose of providing the roles and functions of government and public administration, as well as presenting the future strategies and directions of public management.
